My Transition to Primary School

A brief recap..

I attended infant care since i was a year old, move on to Child Care at 18 months and now to Student Care. One would think that integration to Student Care will be easy coming from a full day child care environment. My experience was a total flop.

Three weeks before the school terms started, the Centre head of my Student Care resigned and left the Centre in a Chaos. I was placed in the wait-list even though confirmation was given earlier. Mummy called the Centre and got them to revert my enrollment status. 

Prior to the first day of School, Mummy pre-empted me on what to expect at School such as how to buy food, use the pay phone, read the clock, not to follow strangers etc. I was overloaded with information. 

Finally, the big day came. I woke up early in the morning at 6, had some bread and left for School. I guess i was too nervous and started to experience tummy pain. 

The first half of the day was fun. I was introduced to my form teacher (Mdm Kartini), my classmates and had my first recess with my parents around. I made my first p1 friend, Clesias and we talked a little in class.

Soon, it was dismissal for the class. I was upset seeing other kids being picked up at the gates by their parents while i had to remain in school for Student Care. I began to wonder why i have to go to Student care while others gets to go home. I miss my Mummy and tears began to flow down my cheek as i was directed to Student Care.

Student care was terrible...However, i still manage to make friends subsequently, on the third day with Janelle and Wan Sing.

5 Months: Rollover

6 Months: Sit, Assisted Stand, Babytalk(mamaa), Eat whole grain cereal and purees

7 Months: Crawl, Clap, Babytalk(babaa), Throw tantrum

8 Months: Ask for food, Shout aloud, Eat baby puffs, Eat fish porridge, First airflight to China

9 Months: Wave, Twinkle-twinkle, Faking cough, Blowing air to Daddy's tummy

10 Months: Open mouth wide, Screaming(Gesture for food/attention), Play games with others such as peek-a-boo, Have food preference , Display liking for water play, Display excitement during play, Stand without support for 1-2sec, Crawl around the house independently and locating support to stand up, Splatter water

11 Months: Monitors animal movement(cats, dogs,birds), play iphone, eat Stage 3-4 Nestle baby cereal(Likes:wheat&ikan bilis, multigrain w mixed fruits, yoplait. Dislike: rice w chicken) for breakfast/lunch then porridge for dinner.

12 Months: 2 front bottom teeth, play iphone stage 2, say cat whenever she see Hello Kitty, Stand on her own momentarily, refusing to get out of bathtub, Ask for food via scream n shouts, long baby talks, escape from pram and high chair when half secured, pick and put puffs into mouth subsequently everything else eg. iphones. Says birds, cats, dogs whenever she sees one.

13 Months: 2 front top teeth, free herself from high chair,walk w/o support, hymn twinkle twinkle, walk independently

14Months: 2 bottom teeth, Dance to the music, grin, signal for food, point to the items she wants, finish a bottle of Yakult, reads words such as hats, cats on screen, hi and lots more in v3, listen to simple instruction such as "pass controller to daddy","sing" and "dance"

15 Months: 3 front top n bottom teeth, can walk steadily, prefer more solid food, dislike and reject cereal, eat dinner with us, got uti and recovered, perform simple task like pass bottle to daddy, put item in cart,difficult to go shopping with as prefer to walk, call "papa" aloud, knows toys.

16 Months: 4 front top n bottom teeth, start to accept hairband, gave mummy a kiss to wake her up, wave goodbye when asked to. gave daddy a kiss when asked to, say n recognise apple.

17 Months: > 25 vocab, shows more enthusiasm in playing, drink from kids water bottle, able to communicate slightly(ask to sit on a chair, take sth from the table), join us for meals, able to recognise daddy's car, love to take the driver's seat, Visit Yokohama Japan and Tassie, Australia, Stands in front of the fridge and says "mum mum"

19 Months: Count from 1-10 without prompting, Loves Mickey MCH, Loves Gummi Bears Vitamins & Yakult & Rasins & Cold Drinks, Feed herself messily, Able to identify people who are close to her.

21 Months: Loves singing nursery rhythms, Give instructions like" hands behind your back, come, sit down, running, Pose at camera, Push shopping cart, Mastered Eagle's eye hunt for sweets, biscuits rasin & all toddler edible food

22 Months: Recognised coffee store to buy drink, can eat in a cleaner manner

34 Months: Dance to her fav music - Price Tag(JessieJ), likes to watch mickey mouse clubhse, winnie the pooh, little einstein, use ipad/iphone

40 Months: Communicate adequately, fav music - Everything at once (Lenka), loves Dora and story books, Loves fruits(Kiwi, strawberries, blueberries, green grapes)

44 Months: Fruits Monster, Loves Princess, Purple(Fav Colour), Hi5, Katy Perry

4yrs: Performs with move from Katy Perry's MTV, Likes Subway, Took up ballet

Japan 2014

Daddy and mummy brought me to Japan on a holiday. The montage pretty much summaries my trip. We visited Tokyo Disneyland, Onsen, Hakone, Odaiba and Yokohama. We had a wonderful trip making my cup noodles too. Not forgetting all the goodies i bought back. I love all the restaurants too as i get to choose a small toy everytime i dine in.

My Little Secret @ K1

Tonight, i whispered a secret to mummy by her ear.
I told mummy "I want to marry Jacob. Jacob wants to marry me. Jacob says he want to marry me and hui shane. I told him teacher zhang say one boy can only marry one girl then he say want to marry me." Mummy finds the conversation amusing. She kept laughing and shared it with Daddy. Daddy told me whoever wants to marry me must first seek permission from him and Mummy.

What i love most about my ballet school is the well lighted classroom and teachers. It's ballet dress is the nicest i have seen as well. Don't you think we look quite pro?

Outing to "Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb"

There were three June holiday camps/outings organised by my CC this year.

Initially, mummy only signed me up for 1 of the camp on Manner and Etiquette.

A few day prior to outing, i express my interest to visit "The Mummy". I told Daddy and Mummy on separate occasions that i am a brave girl and i want to go to the Mummy camp. Don't be mistaken by the word "Camp". I am not really staying overnight with those Mummies, it is actually a 1 day outing event spread over 2 days. My parent discussed and i was signed up for it :p

This camp consists of the following:

Outing to ArtScienceMuseum and SingaporeArt Museum (2-days camp - 9 to 2 pm)

1^st Day : Guided tour of two exhibitions “Mummy: Secrets of the Tomb” and “A Journey through Creativity”

2^nd Day : Visit to the Singapore Art Museum which will showcase contemporary art from local and international artists.  The children will be involved in making a kaleidoscope and mask after the visit.

What i have learnt and told mummy back hm:
Day 1:
1. "The mummy die already".
2. "The mummy wrap wrap wrap, wrap two feet, don't have hand to say hello".
3. "We sit in a circle somewhere near the mummy and play a puzzle"
4. "I saw a dog and bird bird. The dog is dead."
5. "I saw a snake on the mummy tummy"
6. "The mummy lie down in a box then i saw the eyes"
7. " I am a brave girl. I am not scared!"

Day 2:
1. "I see Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall, the egg crack and the bird disturb it"
2. "The blue colour Humpty Dumpty take the biscuit and walk away"

My First Stage Participation @ Zoo

Today, Daddy and Mummy brought me to the zoo with two main objectives in mind:

1. See Inuka, the polar bear at his $6M new home
We reached the zoo at about 3pm, contributed to Zoolympic then proceeded to see Enuka. Inuka was sun-bathing and he was basically laying flat on the ground. At that moment, i felt sad that Inuka is all alone in his new home :(

We decide to head toward kidzworld slowly. We walked pass meercat, zebra, rhino(one of them was peeing -.-!, like a running tap from his butts), giraffe, lion, ostrich ...

2. Participate in the show at KidzWorld
I volunteered myself to participant in the show and won a frisbee from the Zoo. I am so happy and my parents were proud of me.

Goodbye to my peg prego

Daddy sold my beloved peg prego today for $280. Mummy really can't bear to sell it as it has been her preferred pram all along. As it is seldom use nowadays, daddy decided to sell it off. Hopefully the couple who bought it will appreciate it like i do. Goodbye my pram, i will remember how useful you have been ferrying me to AMK Hub...

Toilet Training

Mummy has been coaxing me to use the toilet bowl to pass motion. The closest i have got was to urine in it. However, last Friday, i surprise everyone by passing motion there. Mummy was delighted and rewarded me with my favorite gummy :P

First hospital stay - kkh

It all started on Friday night when I started having a high fever of 39.3deg. I vomited my milk halfway thru my night feed soiling daddy newly bought bedsheet used for 3 days.

Morning came, daddy n mummy brought me to kkh as I sound badly congested with every breath I take. There, we took a queue no, went thru the triage then payment before seeing the doctor. The flow was strange as you need to settle payment before seeing the doctor. With that, there go $85.

We were directed to room 11 for doc consultation. Till this stage everything seems to be fast n smooth flowing. My doctor is a female philippina, Dr ludy. She prescribed me with a dose of medic to be inhaled via a nubelizer and a syrup to clear my phlegm. It was my first encounter with then nubelizer. It was terrifying and chaotic as I struggled thru the entire session which lasted 10 mins. I was literally pin down by daddy and mummy to inhale. Follow by a 2hr wait inclusive of nurse monitoring at the 1hr interval.

The outcome of the nubelizer n medic was not as effective as perceived. Doctor requested for further monitoring. I was hence admitted to women's tower ward 62, bed 31. Here, nurse and doctors repeatedly ask daddy n mummy familiar sets of qtns such as any allergy, what's the symptoms of the illness. Daddy has to go home to get my own diaper, milk powder etc as kkh dont have them n even if there do they are chargeable. The room we chose was of class b2 with aircon, no tv , 5 bedded w attached toilet/bathroom, foldable bed for one parent (if the patient is below 12)and follow up visit will be categorized under subsidized rates. The cost was estimated to cost between $800-900 for 3days. It was totally unexpected as we are leaving for japan in a few days. One would certainly be packing their luggage then b in the hospital. Hopefully I will recover fast.

Mummy says "Rachelle, can you give mummy a kiss on the cheek? Muuack!"

I gently lean over and gave her a 'Muack'... it made her so happy...

Mummy then says "Rachelle, can you give daddy a kiss on the cheek? Muack!

I went over to daddy and gave him a kiss too.

Mumy told daddy "Rachelle grew up already" .... yup that's me ... :)

This morning, i gave Mummy a kiss on her cheek to wake her up. She was extremely delighted and kept asking for more. The same evening, i did it again. It certainly made her day and she went boosting to daddy. LOL

UTI

First week of December, i started feeling a pain whenever i pass urine. The pain was unbearable and each time i will scream and cry. Mummy noted my behavior when i came back from cc that Friday but suspected it was more of dehydration. Monday(6 Dec 2010) came and principal Vash phoned mummy advising her to take me to the doctor. We did the very evening to Mt A A&E Clinic.

To confirm on UTI, i was required to do an urine test. This was a very difficult task for a toddler. Firstly, the sterilized urine bag had to be inserted into my diaper. Trust me it was extremely uncomfortable. Just imagine putting a plastic bag underneath. Yikes! Secondly, the design of the bag was too flat and urine is easily squeeze out of from it when i sit down. Thirdly, my water intake was not fantastic so it requires more effort to make me drink. Lastly, there is no indication that i have urine and got the right amount for the test.

Urine collection was lengthy and full of hiccups:
1. Waited for 1 hr, check bag and found that the bag was misplaced hence no urine collected.
2. A while after putting a new urine bag, i pooed. Hence, another failed attempt.
3. I am sleeply and my parent decided to take me home then send back the collection within 2 hrs as advised. We did it while i was asleep and Daddy took the sample to the hospital around 3-4am the next morning.

The result: I contacted UTI and i need to be on antibiotics for a week. After taking it for 3 day, my parents became uneasy as there were no urine culture done. So i was brought to my PD. He asked for a blood test(white blood count within range), Urine analysis(No infection - according to the nurse, might be due to
medication given by Mt A cured the infection without finding the root cause) then the urine culture(No bacteria - due to medication as well).

With Mt A's approach(No culture n straight antibiotic treatment based on urine analysis), we miss the chance to uncover the cause of the UTI. But i am happy i recovered. Dr Ong suggest we monitor for the next few month for recurrence. If so, i will need to have an ultrasound done. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Today marks the end of my second week at infant care, Mummy's first week at work and the day i started walking on my own. I started showing my ability these two day.
First, in school, when daddy came to fetch me home. Second, today while we were waiting for dinner to be served. Daddy and Mummy were extremely delighted and let me have the freedom to explore around myself. Free! Free! Free!!! ;p

Infant care

Monday(27 Sept 10) was my first day in infant-care@Cherie Hearts. It's located a stone throw from Mummy's new office.

We reached the centre at around 9.30am. It was my first encounter seeing so many kids around. Mummy started with the registration and dictating my habits to the teacher-in-charge, Katherine while i was doing my bits exploring with daddy by my side. I got to know a few little friends. There were Miguel(Portuguese)&Serra&Vishva[toddler] and Liam&Ariel[baby]. The toddlers were all around my age but two of them, Miguel and Serra, were on half days only. By noon, i was left to play with only the babies and Vishva. Rather lonely i suppose. I stayed till about 3pm before heading home. It was a common practice to pick up infants/kids earlier on their first day.

On the second day, i did a bit of crying when i realize Mummy is missing. Teacher Liz and Teacher Ho coax me with toys and food to distract me. I submitted and stopped crying. Later that morning, a boy named Josh came. I realized he was my age too. I was delighted having a new playmate but unfortunately he was sick. His parents got a letter from the doc to certify him fit for infant-care so he was here. However, the truth is he wasn't fit at all. He was having runny nose and quarantine to a corner of the room. Hope he get well soon to play with me. At around 5pm, Daddy came and i couldn't help myself. I was crying and crawling fast towards him. Daddy was heartbroken.

Today is the third and last day Mummy is allowed to stay in the centre with me. But i'm sure she will be dropping by often. I know Mummy also could't bear to leave me there and i will be good not to make her worry.
