Muack!

This morning, i gave Mummy a kiss on her cheek to wake her up. She was extremely delighted and kept asking for more. The same evening, i did it again. It certainly made her day and she went boosting to daddy. LOL

UTI

First week of December, i started feeling a pain whenever i pass urine. The pain was unbearable and each time i will scream and cry. Mummy noted my behavior when i came back from cc that Friday but suspected it was more of dehydration. Monday(6 Dec 2010) came and principal Vash phoned mummy advising her to take me to the doctor. We did the very evening to Mt A A&E Clinic.

To confirm on UTI, i was required to do an urine test. This was a very difficult task for a toddler. Firstly, the sterilized urine bag had to be inserted into my diaper. Trust me it was extremely uncomfortable. Just imagine putting a plastic bag underneath. Yikes! Secondly, the design of the bag was too flat and urine is easily squeeze out of from it when i sit down. Thirdly, my water intake was not fantastic so it requires more effort to make me drink. Lastly, there is no indication that i have urine and got the right amount for the test.

Urine collection was lengthy and full of hiccups:
1. Waited for 1 hr, check bag and found that the bag was misplaced hence no urine collected.
2. A while after putting a new urine bag, i pooed. Hence, another failed attempt.
3. I am sleeply and my parent decided to take me home then send back the collection within 2 hrs as advised. We did it while i was asleep and Daddy took the sample to the hospital around 3-4am the next morning.

The result: I contacted UTI and i need to be on antibiotics for a week. After taking it for 3 day, my parents became uneasy as there were no urine culture done. So i was brought to my PD. He asked for a blood test(white blood count within range), Urine analysis(No infection - according to the nurse, might be due to
medication given by Mt A cured the infection without finding the root cause) then the urine culture(No bacteria - due to medication as well).

With Mt A's approach(No culture n straight antibiotic treatment based on urine analysis), we miss the chance to uncover the cause of the UTI. But i am happy i recovered. Dr Ong suggest we monitor for the next few month for recurrence. If so, i will need to have an ultrasound done. Keeping my fingers crossed.

My favourite pop song now is "Dynamite" by Taio Cruz. I love to dance to the beat and this never fail to delight my parents. They will often request for more.

Free Free Free ...

Today marks the end of my second week at infant care, Mummy's first week at work and the day i started walking on my own. I started showing my ability these two day.
First, in school, when daddy came to fetch me home. Second, today while we were waiting for dinner to be served. Daddy and Mummy were extremely delighted and let me have the freedom to explore around myself. Free! Free! Free!!! ;p

Infant care

Monday(27 Sept 10) was my first day in infant-care@Cherie Hearts. It's located a stone throw from Mummy's new office.

We reached the centre at around 9.30am. It was my first encounter seeing so many kids around. Mummy started with the registration and dictating my habits to the teacher-in-charge, Katherine while i was doing my bits exploring with daddy by my side. I got to know a few little friends. There were Miguel(Portuguese)&Serra&Vishva[toddler] and Liam&Ariel[baby]. The toddlers were all around my age but two of them, Miguel and Serra, were on half days only. By noon, i was left to play with only the babies and Vishva. Rather lonely i suppose. I stayed till about 3pm before heading home. It was a common practice to pick up infants/kids earlier on their first day.

On the second day, i did a bit of crying when i realize Mummy is missing. Teacher Liz and Teacher Ho coax me with toys and food to distract me. I submitted and stopped crying. Later that morning, a boy named Josh came. I realized he was my age too. I was delighted having a new playmate but unfortunately he was sick. His parents got a letter from the doc to certify him fit for infant-care so he was here. However, the truth is he wasn't fit at all. He was having runny nose and quarantine to a corner of the room. Hope he get well soon to play with me. At around 5pm, Daddy came and i couldn't help myself. I was crying and crawling fast towards him. Daddy was heartbroken.

Today is the third and last day Mummy is allowed to stay in the centre with me. But i'm sure she will be dropping by often. I know Mummy also could't bear to leave me there and i will be good not to make her worry.

The Zoo 2

This is my second visit to the zoo. Mummy had wanted to bring me there before i go to infant care. So Daddy bought the tickets last night.

The weather was fantastic, no rain and partly cloudy. We reached the zoo at about 9.30am and went for the buffet breakfast at the Ah Meng Restaurant. Other than the photo taking sessions, i doubt we patronize it next time.

Comparing this visit with the previous, being older, i realized that i am able to appreciate the shows and animals more. My favourite show was "The animal friends show"@Kidsworld casting domestic animals like dogs and cats. This was my first experience see them perform stunts like jumping through hula hoop, catching Frisbee etc.

My highlight of the day was Waterplay@Kidsworld. I got totally drenched and was screaming and crying in reluctance when it was time to go :(. I LOVE IT!! I guess it will become the special highlight for me whenever i visit the zoo.

Immunisation - Chickenpox

Had my injection this morning, it was administrated to my left arm. I let out a scream and it was over. Thank you Auntie nurse for being so quick and finished everything in a jiff. Mummy was then advised to monitor my temperature and any allergic reaction for two days.

Apparently, the vaccine has got something to do with egg white and yolk and i was supposed to be fed egg to ensure there is no allergic reaction. However, i was only introduced to egg yolk as that was the advice given by the nurse on our last visit.

Nevertheless, i have had bits and pieces of egg white i suppose coming from food trials such as egg tart... No allergy then, so i presume i will be just fine. *grin*

The Winning Formula

And the winner is ... NAN PRO 2!!! 90ml on my first attempt!!!

Finally, one infant formula that taste and smell better than the rest. It was our latest sample from Nestle after Mummy spoke about my formula rejection to Nancy(also from Nestle) when she contact her for some feedbacks.

Cheers to Nestle for its good service and nicer tasting formula. You have won me over.

Milo Milk Milk

Rejects, rejects, and rejects!

Since the start, i have been rejecting all sort of formula off the shelves. So Daddy and Mummy decided to concoct something specially for me. Milo milk milk!!! Guess what? I drank it gladly for the past 2 nights.

Yesterday, Daddy tried to trick me by not adding Milo thinking that i wouldn't notice it. But, i proved him wrong. Booo!!! Daddy boo!!! I rejected immediately and he went back to added Milo.

Daddy/Mummy, none of the formulas smell and taste to my liking. Adding Milo helps a lot. Please continue to put Milo, ok? :)

I'm a Toddler

I am officially a Toddler. Daddy and Mummy threw a mini birthday party at home with a two-tier Hello Kitty Cake. It was extremely nice looking and tasty. The top was Triple Layer Chocolate (for us, kids) while the lower was Lychee Martini(For adults). This is the first time i ate such a nice cake.

There was also helium tank&balloons, shapeable ballons and Disney Princess & Toy Story loot bags for party goers and a special balloon for me 'The Birthday Girl'. Mummy also learnt some animal twisting from Youtube and made balloon dogs. flowers and 'fish' on a hook which some says bananas. Mummy was the balloonist, making green dog for Jordan, flower&fish for Nicole&Marcus and Akari(Uncle Kazu's younger daughter).

The party was amazing. Thank you Mummy and Daddy and special thanks to Auntie Jasmine, Janice, Eunice and Shawn for coming early to help. Muack!!!

Being one year old is a major milestone for me, i am now open to more variety of food such as yogurt, cakes, noodles and bits of food which Mummy and Daddy have. To date, i have tried bits of curry, ramen and lollipops. Can't wait to have more...Yummy!!!

Beach Resort, Anyone?

My first visit to a beach resort - Centara Krabi(4D2N). Our room was on the top floor, sea facing and with an outdoor jacuzzi. The jacuzzi was so big that it can accommodate my mummy, daddy and i all at once. Once i get in, i simply doesn't want to get out.
On our first day, Daddy rented a motorcycle and all three of us ride around the krabi town. Mummy was hesitant initially but Daddy promised to ride slowly with extra care. Hence my first ride being bjorned and well-shielded by Mummy.

Next, we went for the Phi-Phi Island Tour. Scenery at Phi Phi island was fabulous as though we were walking in a picture. Seawater was crystal clear with colourful fishes swimming near the shore.

I love the infinity pool at the resort too but i only got in once :( I hope i do get to stay there again.

Fruit i dislike
=========
Banana(maybe its the brand i dislike ;p)

Rejecting Cereals and Formulas

I have developed a dislike for Healthy Times Cereal(Barley,Oatmeal). Guess i have outgrown puree-like food. When mummy tried to feed me, i would just keep my mouth shut firmly and turn away. Mummy was persistent not to waste food and tried ways to coax me but it didn't work.

Recently, i was fed formula samples such as Similac follow-on, Nan Pro 3 and Mamil Gold. None that i like and so the search continues. Line up next is NAN HA 2. Wish me luck!

Swollen eyes

I had swollen eyes and went to Mount Alvernia then Dr Ong when the swell shifted from the bottom to the top of my left eye. It was reddish and puffy like a goldfish. Together with the "ringworm" path near my mouth. I think i look pretty bad. Hope all this will be history soon.
R@10mths

Pd Visit

Oh no!!! "Ringworm" on the left cheek near my nose. It's a reddish, doesn't itchy, sounds scary and ugly. Sob sob :( Dr Ong says it may be because babies my age drools a lot and the area was affected. He gave me some cream and reminded to keep the area dry.

Home-made Porridge

After our china trip@8months, Mummy thinks that i am ready to go beyond puree.

My first porridge was threadfin porridge. Threadfin was costly, sold at $7.70 for two miserably tiny slice, only good enough for two baby servings. My first experience with fish porridge was fishy and tasteless as no salt or seasoning was added. Subesequently, thin slices of ginger and shredded carrots were added to enhance the taste.

3 days later, I had my first taste of cod fish porridge.

White Bumbo

I have been using Bumbo since i was 3 months. For the past 5 months, my green Bumbo has been a great help to Mummy and I. It has allowed me to be in the kitchen and everywhere Mummy goes. Sadly, since last month, it is slowly becoming a 'White Elephant' as i was able to get out it myself. Now, Mummy is cracking her brain on which high chair to get.

Bye bye Mummy?

Yesterday, after having dinner, Daddy carried me from the baby chair and said "Say bye bye to Mummy". So i waved. I must say Daddy certainly didn't expect that. Since, he has been asking me to wave and wave.... Yawn...

Separation Anxiety

Mummy have been taking care of me since birth and the longest duration we were separated was 8 hours. I have since developed a strong bond and attachment to her and now i am suffering from separation anxiety. Nowadays, i do not wish to be carried by anyone other than Mummy. I know this is not good but i just couldn't help it. I hope this anxiety goes off soon. Mummy is also trying to help me get accustomed by passing me to others as much as possible.

New Purchases

I've got a new pram, playpen, potty and a new cup holder.

Daddy and Mummy will be travelling next month, they concur that P3 is too heavy and got me a Maclaren quest. It is light weight(5.2kg), compact, reclinable backrest, easy to operate and on sale. It was going at $199(UP $369) and comes with rain cover free. Though it is not going to be as sturdy and durable as my P3, it is definitely the take for travelling.

Standing Tall Chasing Laptop

I love playing with laptops. Whenever Daddy or Mummy uses it, i will definitely crawl by and disturb. Sometimes, they will put me in my cot while both are busy surfing.

Today, i surprised them by standing in the cot holding on to the cot. Mummy was shocked seeing me at eye-level with part of my body hanging off the cot and asked Daddy to lower my bed.

On Fours Making Noises

I am now practicing to go on all fours learning to crawl. But, currently could only stay in that position for a short while before slid forward. Soon, i will be able to crawl and move about the house.

I have progress in my baby talk skill too. I can make sound like "maaa", "baaa' and scream/cry louder too.

My first Puree

My first puree was steam broccoli. Mummy felt that steamed food is more nutritious compare to boiling and microwave. This was what she did yesterday.

Making Puree
============
1. Steam the broccoli(or any vegetable) for 15-20 mins.
2. Using a fork, check that the vegetable is totally cooked and soft.
3. Blend all using a hand-blender.
4. Portion serving into storage cups with lids and freeze at -18 or lower temperature. (Frozen food to be consumed within 6 mths)

Serving Puree
=============
1. Thaw frozen puree by putting in the fridge compartment a day before serving or place it on a food warmer for 15-20 mins.
2. Check the food temperature before serving. (Thawed in fridge to be consumed within 72hrs)

Tools used
==========
1. Steamer
2. Braun Miniprimer Pro Blender 600Watt
3. Avent VIA Storage Systems with lids

After having my broccoli puree, my poo poo was darker in colour. Actually, it resembles what i ate. Greenish and slummy. Alright too much details.

Next in line will be the carrot puree...wonder if my poo poo will turn orange this time.

Lazy Baby

Oppppss, i gave myself away. Mummy just discovered and complained to daddy that i am a very lazy girl.

Whenever my toy is out of reach, i will start making noises before crying out loud in order to get Mummy's help. And, i have also learnt to toss my toys out of everywhere. my cot, pram, bumbo just to antagonize Mummy to pickup-wash-passback the toy.

But humpf!... Mummy isn't stupid either... She disciplines me whenever i does that. She confiscates those toys.. Humpf! Humpf! I want my toys...

My First Chinese New Year

This was my first Chinese New Year and my parents made exceptional effort to bring me to meet all our relatives.

In the morning, we went to great grandma's house then Da Jiu Gong's before going to Da Bo Gong's and Shu Gong's house in Malaysia.

For the first time(for me, daddy & mummy), we went to Da Jiu Gong's house(Nai Nai's side). It was there that i felt like a celebrity. Everyone was crowding around hoping to catch a glimpse of me and my megawatt smile. Recalling, Aunty Hui Hui was very nice and she played and rocked me to sleep.

The next day, we went to Yi Po's house and subsequently great grandma's(MP) on Chu San morning then Auntie Bee Yen's house.

What a busy new year... i love chinese new year!!!

Weaning

One week before Chinese New Year, Mummy and Daddy decide to start weaning me. You could probably imagine the ecstasy when i saw baby food in our shopping cart. There were a pack of "Healthy Times Organic Brown Rice Cereal" and "Heinz Farley's Rusks". Mummy chose Healthy Times because its organic and doesn't contain sugar. While rusks was probably a wrong purchase as we later realize it was a bit too sweet and troublesome to feed.

For a record. i first had my cereal on the 12th Feb 2010. (2 tablespoon with 30ml freshly boiled water). Today, i took 3 tablespoon of cereal and soon i will be taking the full 8 tablespoon of cereal :)

Roll over

I can roll over!!!
Though still an amateur, i'm sure with more practices i will be a pro in no time. It feels great to learn new things and everyday is a new learning experience. I like surprising Daddy and Mummy just like i did this morning. Looking at their amazed expressions make me laugh. Often, they will continue to encourage me to repeat what I've done but i will just act blur and look blur :P

My Development to-date

I am now able to do a turn from back to tummy and vice versa.
Showed it to Mummy this morning during nappy change and to Daddy this evening.
Been mumbling a lot, communicating my hunger, sleepiness and loneliness.

Attained Level 2 of Thumb Pacifier.
Each time Mummy caught me, she would shake her head and say "No, Mummy don't like" hoping the message will get across.

Things that will make me laugh or smile right now
- "kick kick", "kicking"
- 1,2,3 in very amusing and exaggerating tone
- Attention from Daddy during meal times
- Daddy calling my name and playing rough with me eg. raising me toward the ceiling
- Playing with Mummy when someone else is carrying me

Avatar BB care

Went to great grandma's house today as Daddy & Mummy went to catch Avatar 3D. It was their first movie since i was born. It must have been tough since they had been very updated on movie before my arrival.

Aunty Janice & Eunice and Uncle Shawn were all at home today. They knew i was coming and waited for me to come. All of them are really nice to me. Aunty Eunice changed my romper and diaper while Aunty Janice tried to bottle feed me. Poor aunties and great grandma had a hard time bottle feeding me. Because it has been a while since i was last bottle fed and daddy mixing yesterday's refrigerate milk with this morning's made it worse.

I like going to great grandma's. I have new things to taste on each visit. Last visit i tasted gummies and today sweet orange. Everyone love me a lot. I can sense it.

30 Dec 2009 Wednesday - Desaru, Malaysia

We were having breakfast at The Pulai Desaru Beach Resort, i had my first knock on the head at the breakfast table while Daddy was carrying me. It was painful and i let out a short cry. I know Daddy was unintentionally and was scolded by Mummy for his carelessness.
